Description
Open Studio is your time to sew, create, and work on your own projects in a fully equipped sewing space — without having to set everything up at home.
When you reserve an Open Studio spot, you’ll have access to our shared studio equipment and tools, including:
- Sewing and embroidery machines
- Our Serger
- Large cutting tables
- Scissors, rulers and other shared sewing tools
- Sewing books and reference materials
- Basic thread for general sewing
Bring the project you’re working on, along with the fabric, pattern and any project-specific notions or supplies you’ll need. Forgot something? Fabric, notions and other supplies are available for purchase in the Fabric Stash shop.
Open Studio is independent sewing time.
Please keep in mind that Open Studio is not a sewing class or private lesson.
A Fabric Stash instructor will be on site, and we’re always happy to help with a quick question, point you in the right direction or help troubleshoot something small. However, Open Studio is designed for sewists who are comfortable working independently on their projects.
If your project requires more involved instruction, repeated troubleshooting or step-by-step guidance, additional one-on-one assistance may be available for $15 per 30 minutes, subject to instructor availability.
If you’re still learning, starting a new technique, or know you’ll need ongoing help throughout your project, we recommend booking one of our classes, workshops or private lessons instead.
Using Fabric Stash Machines
You’re welcome to use the studio machines included with your Open Studio booking, provided you are comfortable operating the machine you select.
For the safety of our equipment and everyone using the studio, some specialty machines may require a Fabric Stash machine orientation before independent use.
Open Studio is meant to be relaxed, creative and social — bring a project, settle in at a machine, and enjoy having the space, equipment and sewing community around you while you work.
